The common chestnut tree (Castanea sativa) is a tree of the Fagaceae family that is very common in Europe and well known for its fruit. Its wood is rot-resistant and rich in tannins, and is used in carpentry and furniture making. Colour: White-yellow wood with a slightly pinkish hue. Coarse-grained wood. Use of veneers: decorative panels, cabinet making. Available in a sanded finish.
